According to PinalCentral, "Mickey Mouse may have a competitor in central Arizona if a new development project under review by the city comes to fruition." Canyon Winds Assisted Living & Memory Care

[sgmb id="1"]     What's Being Built in Las Sendas? Have you noticed the construction fencing as you enter the Las Sendas Community from McDowell Rd in Mesa, Arizona? Its the new Canyon Winds Assisted Living & Memory Care. This will be a great addition to our community. The Mesa City Council on April 18 voted 5-2 to approve rezoning property for a Canyon Winds Senior Living Community with independent living, assisted living and memory care in a campus setting in the 7100 and 7200 blocks of East McDowell Road. The property is part of Parcel 51, 51 acres at the northwest corner of East McDowell and North Ridgecrest roads, at the entrance of Las Sendas. It is not in the Las Sendas Homeowners Association, according to a staff report at the city’s website, HTTP://MESA.LEGISTAR.COM/CALENDAR.ASPX. “The proposal is to develop a transitional care facility that includes 124 independent living units in a beautifully structured, four-story building, 55 feet tall; 60 units of the assisted care in a two-story building; and 30 units of memory care in a single-story building,” Ralph Pew of Pew and Lake, the applicant, said to the council. the above data was sited in the Mesa Independent, read about it here Mesa Independent (more…)

NE Mesa Sprouts location

[sgmb id="1"] [caption id="attachment_664" align="aligncenter" width="620"] sprouts farmers market longbow[/caption] By Roland Murphy for Arizona Builder’s Exchange Kitchell Development hopes to start construction on Phase 1 of the Longbow Marketplace project at the SWC of Recker Road and Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in November. The 64KSF project sits on 9.1 acres of the planned 49-acre shopping center site. A 30KSF Sprouts Farmers Market will act as the anchor tenant, with three restaurants and three retail shops rounding out the first phase development. The site’s basic infrastructure has already been constructed. The eclectic contemporary design focuses on creating a pedestrian-friendly retail environment. Materials combine sand-blasted concrete block, steel beams and metal roofing with desert-colored stucco and heavy timber. Accent elements include formed concrete and porcelain tile. Shading is provided by roof overhangs, awnings and trellises, as well as sail elements on the Sprouts’ corner patio. The landscape design uses fast-growing, desert-appropriate trees, such as mesquite and palo verde, and incorporates colorful shrubs and flowering ground covers to, “Provide an attractive, upscale look for the center all year and create a dynamic contextual place for patrons to gather.” Patio spaces are also provided at the three shops and combine with seating areas along the development’s walkways in hopes of establishing the center as a pedestrian-friendly regional center. Walkways five-six feet wide connect all the buildings, parking areas and pedestrian amenities, and at least 50 percent of the walkway space will be shaded…
